What is the best way to an old cat to a new puppy?

I have a semi-agressive 11 year old Russian Blue cat. We are adding a 7 week old Chihuahua puppy to our family soon. What is the best way to introduce them?
I did similar. I got a pup and I had an 8 year old cat. The cat can stay well out of the way when he wants to .. he'll chill on the table or the countertop or whatever. The dog respects his wishes most of the time. I would never leave them alone together at this point. I'm just over a year into having both of them. Occasionally the cat will chase the dog and very occasionally the dog will snap back. Twice there have been holes poked in the dog's ear (beagle, floppy ears) so that is why I would never leave them alone. But I would say 95% or more of the time they do fine together and it's pretty harmonious .. lol. I'm also sure the cat gets some alone time every day since the dog can just tend to suck up the attention since she's young and still finds trouble or wants to bounce around and play and all that. I just take the cat to my bedroom and have some tv time every night. Good luck!

Oh. I didn't worry about introductions much. I just put the pup on the floor and supervised the cat. The cat sniffed the pup out thoroughly and that was it.
Don't force them to be around each other. Just let them naturally get used to one another. Be prepared for the cat to show dominance and go after the little guy at first, as long as it calms down after a week or so you shouldn't have a problem. It just takes some time getting used to.
I would keep them completely separate. The puppy will probably not be well received by the older cat. If it were my home, I wouldn't bring in another animal that could possibly make the rest of your cat's life miserable. I would wait until the cat passes away.
dont make them have to be around eachother

jsut bring home the puppy and give the animals both special attention

try playing with them both at the same time.
