What cat is right for me? As many answers as possible!?

I would like a cat that's energetic, friendly, that does not shed as much (shorthair), good around kids (I have little brothers), one that would like to be in a cat carrier on trips (in the carrier short trips of coarse !) although mabey out of the carrier on long ones, oh and one that does funny stuff.I just want a cat either way but if there is one that will act like this im going to have to hear about it.
You seem to know what you want in a cat I don't know if breed matters but if it does animal planet has a cat breed selector that will show you the best breed for you after you answer a few questions. Here's the site

After you find out what you'd like I'd go to your local humane society and see what they have and see if any particular cat seems like the right cat for you. They usually will have some info on the about the cat on the cage door. Otherwise if you find a specific breed you want go to either a breeder in your area or go online to petfinder.com.

Just make sure you meet the cat in person before you get it. Remember cats are individuals and have there own personality regardless of breed standards.
The best thing would be to go to a rescue shelter and meet some. Adult cats have already developed physically and have formed their personalities and habits, so you're more likely to get what you are looking for. The staff can direct you and give you more information about those who are waiting for homes and should let you socialise with them.

My sister bought two kittens from a shop which she thought were short hair, but they turned into medium longhairs and they shed hairs terribly! Whereas my cat Rosie was an adult rescue cat and I met her a few times before adopting, so I had an idea about her personality etc. when I brought her home.

I would suggest a younger (2-5 year old) domestic shorthair. You could also be saving a life!
Adopt a cat from a shelter!

We wanted a cat with a ton of personality and short hair, but we didn't care too much about the breed or color. We found the perfect one at our local humane society - he is Mr. Personality and so much fun.

Since the cat we adopted is an adult, the people at the shelter had a really good idea of what his temperament was like. They can help you pick a cat that is friendly and safe around kids.
Well, to be sure you get most of your wanted qualities from a cat, you'll need to be prepared to pay a high price for a pure bred cat. Try the Domestic Shorthair. If trained right, they will be good around most people. All cats go into carriers . All cats to 'funny stuff'. You just have to play with them to see!=)

I would personally get a cheap kitten ie one thats a low price like £ 20-40. Moggies (mix breed) are just as good, even better, in my opinion. Just visit some kittens and you can tell usually if they have short/long hair. But keep in mind no cat or animal is perfect, okay? If this cat doesn't turn out how you like ... don't be disappointed. Its a cat and needs a home.

Hope i helped, MegzieB:)
well, u can pick any short hair breed of cat

i would start out by getting a playful kitten pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

train it, put it in the carrier when needed,

it will grow and learn to love playing and being around kids

any cat will shed, just beware of that.

i suggest a dark colored short haired cat if u dnt want to see white hair everywhere

hope i helped (:
Agree, hit a shelter and try a few cats on for size. The thing about kittens is you really don't know much about what their personality will be like when they're older. An adult has already grown into their personality and you'll know if it's a good fit. Good luck!
