I got my cat 8 years ago, she has ALWAYS been indoors, I do not remember if she had any shots as a kitten but she was nutered. I checked her gums they are pink. She has no black or yellow spots on her teeth. She eats healthy and drinks water everday. Does she sound healthy? What are some things to look out for?
And I wanna take my cat to Petco to get a check-up, does she need a rabies shot first? If so how much does the cost range from?
If she acts okay, she may well be okay.
But you really should take her to a vet once a year for a routine checkup. It's pretty standard.
You might want to ask around for another vet other than Petco. I don't really know what vet petco has. I know Pet Smart has Banfield and I had a bad experience with a feral cat I brought there a few years ago. They were terrible. But others I've talked to have said it's fine.
Ask people you know who own cats and who you respect who they go to. If money's an issue, call your local SPCA to see if they have a low cost clinic or if they can recommend in your town or close by.
Im confused ... you've had this cat for 8 years and have never taken it to a vet? Pets are like people, they need regular check ups, and despite the fact that the animal has always lived inside you should still at least have its rabies shot done, for the cats safety and your own. I strongly suggest you get the kitty checked out, its getting up there in age and its time to really monitor the types of foods it eats and take preventive steps to delay any type of illness that could occur.:)
