Hi, I know this question has probably been asked a lot, and I found some answers elsewhere but they were not really helping my particular case.
I have two cats around 1 and a half year old, brother and sister. During the day they are little angels, with a little bit of fighting. However since they were very little, at night or in the morning they got used to meow very loudly. Now my view on this is to ignore them and NOT give them what they want BECAUSE they meow, and not encourage the bad behavior. My husband viewed it a complete other way (because being his wife makes me wrong on things he doesn ' t know anything about apparently) and kept getting up, and feeding them/playing with them/petting them whenever they meow in the morning.
So now, of course, they still do it. I've always had cats so hearing them meow for a few minutes doesn't wake me up because I am used to it. However my husband would wake up every morning, satisfying the cats . After a while though, my husband started putting his pillow on his head, or plugs in his ears. So the cats meow now for HOURS. With NO interruption. When I wake up from it it makes me upset because I know that they would not have done that if they didn't get used to it.

So now my problem is: They both go crazy in the morning and will make every noise possible (meow, scratch, even run and hit the bedroom door (!!), play roughly), ANYTHING to disturb us and we just cannot sleep at night. I've been trying everything. I've been playing with them during the day, a lot before sleeping, with catnip so they go wild in the evening and then get tired, feeding them before sleeping so their tummy full makes them sleepy , and if in the morning I put them in another room, my husband will flip out because "they don't have food or litterbox there they're gonna die it's cold in this room" and then he becomes the one not letting me sleep lol.
Is there some sort of "training" method to prevent my cats from being terribly obnoxious in the morning? Every day I wake up moody and I start my day on the wrong foot because of them and the bad habits they developed.
My cats used to do the same thing as soon as 4 am hits, its like lets go Crazy!
pompoms and hair elastics as silly as it may sound, they would go crazy for so, I would give them these items to play with. Also I would play like a hide and seek or tag with them. run after them when they go to the hiding spot give em a little tap or bat like they would do to you. then run away and like Hide (say outside the doorway of the room) pop out when you see them. do this for a little while before bed (like 10 - 15 mins is usually all it takes for mine) you can see it in their faces that they are tired and will be good for the night.

I also pull up the blinds in another bedroom for them to have "peeks" outside during the night time.
I also leave out hard food all the time so when they get hungry they have it there for grubbies. (My cats is picky for water so I have to fill glasses before I go to bed for them to drink from)
I wish you all the best with your cats. They are some tricks that I use for my two.:)
Is your cat in heat or not fixed? If so, then fix her or him
a female will meow to get a male .. a male will meow to get out to find a cat in heat
also you can try a new quiet toy .. only put it out before bed or at the crazy kitty time
Shut your door and get some earplugs don't play with them. Your hubby started it but figured out it wasn't best for them. If warm enough let them outside mine are outside most the night coming in when I open the door for them in the morning or they came jump on my window and let me know they want in.
