I want to start taking pictures for Petfinder, but recently the society has slowed down and nearly stopped doing it for reasons I do not know. How would I ask the manager if I can help take pictures and even post them on the site?
"Do you all still use Petfinder; I would like to volunteer my services and take pictures of all the cats to put them on Petfinder to stimulate adoptions if you all still use it"?
What if he says no, do I suggest one of my other ideas, a fundraiser or do I say "Okay, I understand; thanks for listening"?
I don't want to sound insulting when I ask, as if they are not capable of posting them or anything but I do want him to know I am aware of the slow down in postings and I want to help.
If you are volunteering to do it, there is absolutely no reason for them to say "no", that would be really stupid if they said "no" to you. They probably ran out of reliable people to take pictures.
Just talk with them saying something like "I noticed no one is taking pictures of the animals for Petfinder anymore. I would like to volunteer my time in doing that, would that be okay with you? I'm pretty good with the camera! "

If their shelter is closing down or something - all the more reasons to get the pets up there. I'd suggest writing a CUTE blurb about each animal you put up - that really draws a person's attention to know any little thing about the cat ( especially special needs or sick cats and what their illness is and whether or not it's treatable).
Oh you are such a blessing to do this. They, again, would be ridiculous to say "no" to your offer.
Blessings to you!
Just tell him what you said in the end; "I am aware of the slow down in postings and I want to help." Good luck to you.
I found my puppy on Petfinder & still just browse & see whats on there. I'm sure if you call you local shelter & just ask if you can volunteer to do it they would be more than happy to let you donate your time. When I worked at our local humane society the only reason pictures didn't get posted was because the manager didn't have time. If they don't have time for it I'm sure they will appreciate someone will to volunteer their time to do it .. . in the end they want their animals to get adopted. Tell him you LOVE taking pictures of animals and this would alow you and him to benifit! Good luck & there is nothing wrong with asking.
