14 week Kitten with UTI?

He has had this for about 4 days now and is starting to improve after 3 vet visits. He still uses the litter box but also squats anywhere if he feels the urge to ... Before this he was litter trained ... Will he go back to the litter when he feels better?
When a cat has a UTI it causes inflammation of the bladder, so your cat feels the urge to pee with no warning so will go wherever he is, not always does urine come out but yes cats do go back to using the litter tray, its just that UTI is a pain-full thing, and cats start to associate the pain with the litter tray so will begin to avoid it,

but its good he is starting to use it again, but the squatting anywhere is fine its just caused by the inflammation to his bladder, it makes a bladder feel full when not so to him he feels an urgent need to go, and if not near to his litter he will just attempt to go wherever he is at that time of urge,

but when his bladder inflammation improves so will his symptoms, so he will be able to have control over his bladder so will still be the clean cat he has always been, i have been through this with a cat i once had she had it regularly for the whole 15 years of her life, pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

so i have seen this sort of thing before, cats start to go on the floor but when recovered always go back to litter trained no worries there.
He will go back to being litter trained afterwards, but the sooner he gets better, the better for his litter habits. I assume the vet advised you to stop him from eating dry food? Also, make sure he has plenty of water. Even put a little water in the bowl of tinned food and mix. He still needs treatment if he is still squatting elsewhere. The vet can give him medication (tablets or capsules) to mix in his food. He may need to take these for months. The vet should also be able to prescribe a special medicated dry food to give in a dose every day. He needs intensive treatment now.
You might want to get another litter box and put it in another part of the house. So the cat will be able to use it.

This works because a uti is often painful and the cat thinks the litterbox is causing the pain so he will avoid it
If its continuing this long after treatment, there may be possible other issues, like a possible kidney infection or even kidney stones . I would suggest a second opinion. I had a cat with these issues and unfortunately our second opinion was too late.
My kitten recently had this and was doing the same she now uses her litter tray for her business at night but now feels well enough to go outside like my big cat during the day
He should go back to using the litter box.
