I am 32 weeks pregnant. My cat is a girl. She's almost a year old. She gets along great with my husband. They play together and she never tortures me when he's here. Whenever it's just me and her ... my gawd. .. she will scratch the walls and try to tear up the couches, mess around in her litter box, attack me, try to eat my food, knock things over, destroyed 2 walls already, destroyes the blinds ... but when husband comes back she stops and might get hyper but never does that stuff around him. I try to discipline her the best I can using the techniques the books say to use. I tried everything but nothing seems to work. I can't handle her anymore because I'm pregnant and I don't need this crap. My husband is gone most of the time so it's basically just me and her. Should I give her up for adoption? I would feel awful since I just adopted her less than a year ago, stood by her side while she had surgery to get spayed, always made sure she had sweaters to wear, variety of foods, canned foods, Fancy Feast Appetizers ... snacks ... toys ... she has it hecka good here . Out of all the cats I have had in the past which was about 4, 2 boys, and 2 girls ... she is the only one to act like a psycho. All the others played and stuff but never destroyed things or tortured me even when I was pregnant. I don't know what to do. Husband considers her family ... but I don't know what to do anymore.
Taxidermy! Makes them behave every time!
Maybe she is bored and she behaves for your hubby because he pays more attention to her. She needs something to do to keep her from being bored and destructive. Either play with her more or get her some interesting toys. Maybe some sort of "foraging toy" would be good.
My suggestion is that you do find a great home for her.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com With the baby coming you will be way too busy to supervise the kitty. And the cat may not like a baby in the house. So while you still have time, look for a good home for her. Perhaps a friend of yours?
And congrats!
Alright you have to show your cat your boss. If it doesn't listen i would suggest spraying it with water every time it dose something that bothers you. Then if the cat still doesn't listen just kick its *** and through it on the street.
Your cat is a one person cat and prefers your husband. Usually female cats prefer male humans and male cats prefer female humans.
Is she a kitten? If so that might be why she is having some behavioral problems. Or your cat might just feel as if she doesn't get as much attention from you as she does from your husband. Do you play with her and cuddle her as much as your husband does? As for wanting your food, most cats will do that. My cat does, and will go so far as to put her front paws on our chairs while sitting in there eating our meal. If it is a new cat it might still be adjusting as well . I hope I helped.
