i noticed one morning that my cat had a cut on the bottom of his cheek. He goes under my moms bed a lot and always likes to sit on the window sill and look out the window. He runs around a lot and is a playful cat . He is never abused. Anyone have an idea of why he got cut or what happened to him? Please help? And dont say take him to the vet cuz i already did and they couldn't guess what happened either. PLEASE BE DETAILED. I WILL APPRECIATE ANY COMMENTS THAT AREN'T NEGATIVE.
I wouldn't suspect a fight with another cat, because he would most likely come out with much more than just a small scratch under the eye.
If he's playful and goes under the bed often, this could be the cause. Are there any nails sticking out under there that he could have nicked? Maybe he was running and bumped into the corner of a table. Any wicker garbage cans or baskets? If he was rummaging around in one he could have scratched himself. I'm sure he'll be fine, just check in places he goes often to prevent it happening again. ^ - ^
If you have any knives lying around on the floor, I would start by picking those up. I would also remove knives from any other area the cat might frequent. If this cat has made any enemies, perhaps a rogue mouse in the house, or a dog, this could also be the source of the cut. You should look into this angle.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com It is also likely the cat is suicidal, so you might want to get him on anti-depressants so he will not try to kill himself again.
Good Luck.
A clue may be that he goes under the bed. So a question is has he made a hole and pushed himself up under the covering on the bottom of the box spring, and explored among the springs and wires, and found a loose wire that cut him?
My young kittens worked on the fabric covering the bottom of the box spring, to make an entry hole, and they would explore among the springs, usually at 5 AM, making noise that was not nice at that time of the morning. But for them , it was a lot of fun.
As you say he is playful i suspect that he went outside and had a bit of a fight with another cat. Cats do it every so often so dont worry it will heal by itself, and if he is still normal and acting the same there is no problems! Hope this helps!
probably a knife. they are statistically the highest cause of cat cuts in the continental US.
