Tabasco sauce, vinegar and my kitten?

My wonderful, beautiful 4 month old kitten went on a chewing spree over a 48 hour period and chewed through the cord on my cell phone charger and 2 cords for my computer.

I had someone tell me that if I rub tabasco sauce or vinegar on cords, that kittens/cats will not chew on them because they do not like the taste.

Have you found this to work for you? If not, what are some home remedies that might deter my kitten from chewing on things he shouldn't?

PS Also, do you think this will work for a bunny?
I wouldn't use any type of food product or soap ... tabasco and vinegar are stinky and soap could hurt the cat if he gets any in his tummy. They sell spray and walmart, petsmart, petco, etc that stops pets from chewing things and it is a lot safer to use. It's really cheap to, like $ 5. I would go with that. While your there, maybe get your cat some new toys so he will have his own things to play with and chew on and that will help keep him away from your things :-)

Try 1/4 cup liquid dish soap mixed with 2 tablespoons water and rubbed on the cords.

Or you can go to any aquairum shop or computer store and get those wide plastic aquarium tubes (1 "wide) slit the long way and insert the cords in them.
Either petsmart or petco has cord covers which the others speak of however these ones are made for this reason. They have a harmless odor and taste to them that cats do not like, I have used them.
Your cat is lucky that it wasn't shocked. You can purchase cord covers. This will do the trick.
