My cat is about 6-7 years old and is starting to turn more yellow. We took him to the vet and they said he has to be in the hospital but I couldn't afford him being in the hospital for a long period of time . Is it too late for him? Is there any place I can take him that can try to help him? He is drinking normally, but he will not eat much. I really want to help him, but I don't have the money . He's such a great cat and it's heartbreaking that I may have to let him go. I am in Elk Grove Village, il. If anyone can help me, then please let me know what I can do. I feel so bad and I want him better.
thank you so much!
It kind of depends what's causing it. Obviously the best place is the vet for him. You could call the humane society and see if they know of any low cost vets. Otherwise the best you can do is make sure he eats. Worst case you'll have to force feed him. You can use meat baby food and mix with a little water and squirt with an oral syringe. You could maybe mash up some canned food as well and mix with water or kitten formula and feed via syringe. You can also talk with your vet and see what you should be doing. Good luck!
He probably needs daily medication. I would have to say put him in the hospital and get it figured out. Worry about the cost later.
Mate, im sorry to deliver the bad news.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com If your cats liver has deceased functioning, only option was to have liver transplant, but the operation costs in thousands of dollars and there is no such thing as a vet liver donor program.
In order to your cat to survive to get a transplant, that is also costly, taking long time in waiting and possible connector to blood purifier machine, that does not exist.
It is far more humaine for you to give the final injection to your cat, so it wont suffer in the end.
Im sorry for your loss, my friend, but it's time to let her/him go soon.
I am sorry for your predicament. I am afraid that you are looking to saying goodbye in the near future.
So it all comes down to the quality of your cats life, and when it is no longer there, then release is the approach, no matter how difficult that may be.
I am providing a link to a site that may give you solace. Remember, there are no 'right' answers, and sometimes it is beyond our ability to help them.
