well my male black kitten Dodger is getting Neutered on the friday19th november (i know not to give him any food after 8pm on the thursday just water), and i was wondering what to expect cause ive had my female cats Neutered so i know what to expect with them but not a male, i gotta take him in at 8am and i can collect him on the same day between 2-3 i was surprised cause a female its normally the day after, so i read in a book that male cats do not have stitches, is this true, and what do i expect?!
i might be going out that night, but im not sure on leaving him on his own, cause we have a female cat but ive decided to leave the male in our room where he will have his food and litter tray and away from our female cat so he can heal better.
So what do i expect, and is it easier getting a male neutered then a female?
A suggestion would be to call your vet, and see if you can drop him off the night before. Most vets will do that, and since you have another cat, that means neither cat can have food or water unless separated.

Since I have multiple cats, that is the arrangement I have always done, and they understand.
I have females, and have usually had same day spaying, so I have picked them up before they were fully out of the anesthesia. They have usually found a quiet spot, and gone to sleep, and the next morning it was as if nothing had happened. I suspect your male will do the same.
Your vet should give you a care sheet, but a neutering is a rather trivial operation. Takes about 2 1/2 minutes.
You do have a complication though. Your other cat. And he will come back with that dreaded "vet" scent all over him, so she may hiss and growl at him, since she may not recognize him due to the different scent. So if that happens, take a towel and rub it all over both of them, to mix their scents.
A spay (female neutering) is a much more involved surgery than a neuter (male). Most stitches however are internal these days so after-care is extremely minimal.
i would keep in crate if i left him

ask your vet for care when you pick up
my pup came home with a care sheet and meds when i picked her up same day from spay
Female cats get spayed not neutered. No food after 8 no water after midnight. Male cats get no stitch they are only making a small incision and removing his bits. Paper litter is suggested to keep the incision clean (either shredded newspaper or a litter called "Yesterdays News"). Keep the cat isolated overnight you shouldn't need to keep him isolated any longer than that. You can expect the cat to lick at the incision to keep it clean he shouldn't bee in much pain just a little out of it when you bring him home.
