I do not want them jumping on my tables as I have nick knacks on them and food on my counters.
Thats a good question, Put some strips of tape on the counters and tables that they climb on, once the jump up there they will instantly jump off trying to get the tape off their feet, it works everytime. May have to do more than once, Make sure that the sticky part of the tape is sticking up, scotch tape works the best!:)
The best thing to do and it has always worked for me is to put mouse traps on the tables and counters. A squirt bottle is great but the cats soon learn to only get up there when you are not around. This breaks them of it even when you are not there. Get some mouse traps and set them (no bait) and put them on the tables and counters. Cover them with newspaper (so the cats don't get hurt) When they attempt to jump up they will snap and scare the cats to pieces. Works like a charm. If my cats see a mouse trap even not set they keep far away.
Yep, I can vouch for mousetraps, use the smallest ones, you can also place them carefully upside down , I like the newspaper trick! Anyhow, I have used this for cats and dogs, works great!
Keep a spray bottle near so you can spray them with water when they jump on the counters or tables ...
Mist-spray
