My cat has what feels like sand in her fur on her back?
all 3 cats have it,they are indoor cats
Could be fleas. They breed in the carpet: vacuum, de-flea, then vacuum again, including all the furniture.

Sounds like it could be flea dirt. If you take a damp paper towel and put some on it, and they turn red, then it's flea dirt. If it is, don't use any OTC flea products except Frontline or Advantage, which is sold at Petsmart. Products like those made by Hartz can be toxic and have killed pets.
