My cat is pulling his fur out on his hind quarters,from the tail to up to the side. He is doing this on both sides. His tail around his anus is looking rather sparse on fur also. He sometimes will scoot across the floor after a bowel movement and has pooped on the floor at least once a week. This just started about 3 months ago and other then this he acts fine. The areas where he is pulling out fur is not scabby or red looking. Just bare. I do not have money for a vet's visit but I am concerned.

I know you don't want to hear this, but he needs to see a vet. It could be anything, but it's probably stress or an allergy of some sort. Allergies could be to fleas or the food he's eating. But it's better to have the vet look at him than waste your money on the wrong fix.
