Why won't my cat stop moving the litter box?
We put our kitten into the bathroom at night because he will shred things or climb the blinds and tear them up while we are sleeping. He has his food, water, a couple of toys and his litter box in there with him. [The litter box stays in there.] He will move the litter box towards the door, fling poop out of it and push the poop with his paw out from underneath the door. He'll also fling litter and food everywhere. How can I stop him from doing this? Note that he is more destructive if left out of the bathroom, like I stated before he will shred things, climb the blinds, knock things off shelves and counters, try to pounce on my sleeping children, attack our feet if we move them, chew electrical cords etc. Is there a way to secure the box in one spot? Any ideas? Also how can I stop him from pushing the poop out of the door. I go to let him out in the morning and there is feces in front of the door waiting. :/ HELP.
You should have kitten proofed your home like Animal Planet says too before any new animal.
get a new cat i really don't know any other way for all of this, except if you have the time you should put a bunch of double sided tape on the counters that he gets up on, so when he jumps up his paws will touch the sticky part. cats hate to touch sticky things. also you can put chili oil on the countertops because when he licks his paws they will be all spicy lol! eventually he will figure out the counter is causing that. if you want oily, spicy counters for a few days, anyway!
@ Stella- very unhelpful whats the point of answering jeez. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
I can't stop laughing, I'm sorry.
But anyway..
We had a kitten that was a nightmare like this as well. She would fling poop out of her litter box and it would get every where and stick to the walls its like, really? But, what we did get is a litter box that has a swinging door on it, he may not be intentionally flinging it, maybe hes just kicking his feet too hard to cover it.
As for making the litter box not move, what I thought of was getting something flat and heavy and putting at the bottom of the litter box, then getting the drawstring litter bags and putting that over it with the litter in the bag... so this also helps with easy clean up and he cant move the box because its too heavy.
Also if he still manages to get stuff everywhere, try stuffing a towel under the door so he cant get it through. I'm not sure if that solves anything though.
He sounds like hes ridiculously crazy and hyper, try tiring him out ridiculous just for a couple of days and see how he acts, maybe hes just all pent-up and wants attention EXTREMELY BADLY, and is acting crazy because of it. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
ORRR he may have a thyroid disorder making his energy level on overdrive constantly. Take him to the vet for a blood test. ooooor has he been neutered? This can take a kittens energy level down a notch. If a male kitten is not neutered his hormones are going completely insane (and in some cases bouncing off the walls because he needs to find a female cat..).
Let me know if any of this helps :)
