What can I do about my cat peeing on everything?
Male, 2 years old, neutered at an early age. Lives with 2 other spayed female cats around the same age.
He won't stop peeing on beds, couches, and chairs. I've taken him to the vet and he was diagnosed with a UTI months ago. After antiobiotics, the infection went away, but the problem continues. instead of small puddles, theyre large. I have two litter boxes that are cleaned every day. They live in a clean environment.
This is my last ditch effort, I don't know what else to do, and I can't deal with this for too much longer. This cat is my baby.. I've had him since he was a kitten and he's been with me through two of my husbands deployments. I would hate to have to give him away.. the thought of it brings tears to my eyes. Please help.
There are some products that MIGHT help you out. Petsmart carries Oops pads and pet diapers for frequent urination and spraying. There are deterrent sprays you can use, but I don't think those would work as well. Also, are what kind of litter do you use? And what food?
Just some thoughts. I had a cat once who did this and had a UTI. I read a lot about it and also had a relative with some knowledge. Did the vet say anything about the ash content of his food? I think this is one of the things that cause the UTI's in neutered cats. Did they say anything about a special diet? I am going to guess the UTI is back and is probably going to be a chronic thing. That is one reason I have never had another male cat.
it may feel uncomfortable with the other cat try moving the litter box away from the other
Could be separation anxiety play with him more pet him more when he goes to pee on something and you see him doing it, spray him with water and use a firm no then place him in the bathroom where there is a litter box for a half hour or so
