We just adopted a 5 year old male Ragdoll Cat from the shelter and he is extremely sweet, but....?
all he does is sleep. Plus, he's gotten along with my cats almost right away, despite their posturing and rudeness. But he just stays in the room we started him in and rarely ventures out into the rest of the house even though he can. Like I said, he's super sweet and loving, but just sleeps a lot and doesn't really come out of his safe place. Is this typical of the Ragdolls?
not sure of the ragdoll as a breed for personalities
but remember at 5 yrs old he is no spring chicken and cats are nocturnal, sleeping most of the day
Give him some time. If hes eating, drinking, and going potty hes probably ok but if it continues maybe take him to vet just for checkup.
Yes it is typical of ragdolls, they are a very placid cat. They are also an indoor cat, but give him time to venture out and soon he will start to follow you around.
Pretty typical, they are laid back cats. Have you had him checked by your vet to be sure everything is ok?
all cats have different personalities. i wouldn't worry. your house might take some getting used to too. big change from a cage.
I have a 2 year old rag doll cross and he sleeps most of the day away. He is a very placid cat and has been like that since day dot. If he is doing all the normal cat things then I would just give him some time to get use to the surroundings and he will come around. My boy sleeps in one spot all the time and it never changes.
