Need advice on pregnant cat?
My daughter fell in love with this stray cat who is pregnant. We have accepted her into our home. She is mainly inside but often goes out to use the bathroom. Ive never had a female cat before. Ive done a little research but would like to know what to expect. Shes very large and i expect her to go anytime. Will the kittens requie any additional care that Ill need to provide?
Try to be around when she has the kittens. Help her with the birth. Don't pull them out of her but you can wipe the fluids from around the kittens face to help them start breathing once they're out. Call your vet and ask for advice from them as well.
I agree that the cat is gonna have kittens yes. And they will need something more than nothing when they are born. I've never had a cat I'm my life but I do know somebody that has one. It had 6 kittens and 4 died at birth. The vet said it was stress or something from also being a stray while it was pregnant.
You need to free feed kitten food. She needs the extra calories. And cats know how to give birth without you cleaning them. In fact you can watch, but don't touch unless she needs help.

Oh she'll need to be on kitten food while she's nursing too.
When she starts acting different and her moods change usually they are about to give birth any day. Does she look around allott for places to hide her babies? That is another sign. Make sure you have a spot that is dark, has food and water, and is warm for her and usually they will go where you want them until a week or 2 after birth of kittens. The spot you choose you should prepare it before hand so she gets used to it. Panting a lot and moving alot is a sign they are about to give birth, and when she is ready pick her up gently and put her in the spot you picked out (with lots of warm blankets or old towels that are sanitary.
