Does my cat have a hairball in his throat?
As of the last few days, my can has been vomiting several times a day (anywhere from 2+). I tried restricting his food, and that helped. He ONLY vomits when he's eating. He'll take a bit or two, possibly more, and then vomit it right back up and go back to eating. I thought maybe he was eating too much so I gave him smaller amounts. That didn't help. I tried moistening his food and crushing it up, that didn't help either. He loves wet food, so I even tried giving him a small amount of wet food; that worked last night and he ate it with no problem. But today, when giving him the wet food, he vomited after one bite. He is a strictly indoor cat. He's also 6 months old and a persian. Currently his hair is really short (it was cut not too long ago and is growing back out). We don't have any other pets and nothing new has changed to stress him out. Like I said, he only vomits when eating. My husband is Military and has our only car with him all the time so I can't really get him to a vet unless he's home. The lady I bought him from is a breeder and is sending me medication that should help him if it's a bug, but in case it's not is there any suggestions on what I can do to see if maybe he's got hair stuck in his throat? ALSO, I caught him throwing up a while ago and that's the reason I think something is stuck in his throat. He took 1 bite, looked towards the ceiling and started retching. He then vomited up his food and tried to eat again. Since he did that, and only vomits when eating, I'm thinking something might be stuck in there. HELP!
Is your cat hacking at all? Coughing? Those are signs of hairballs. You can give him a bit of petroleum jelly. This sounds weird but it loosens things up if a hairball is present. It should break apart.

You need to call the vet & explain the situation that you are unable to bring the cat in. Maybe you can find a vet that will make a house call. Please tell the vet that your hubby is in the military. If you are on a military base, is there a vet on the base????

Sounds like your cat may have something stuck in its throat. If it was just a hairball, he would be able to throw it up. I have a ragdoll with very long hair and she throws them up about once every couple of weeks. She has no vomiting with a hairball. I feed her indoor formula dry food and a teaspoon of real mayonnaise once a week in her food. that seems to help. petroleum jelly is not such a good idea. it is not food grade.
