Vet said u cant ever get rid of ear mights is it true?
is it true u cant ever get rid of them thats what the vet said its been 14 years and there still here and the vet knows,
My shelter cat had earmites, the vet gave him one dose of meds into the ears and cleaned the ears out. That was in February and we haven't had any problems since. He's been back to the vet 2x to check it out and no recurrence. I think it was once true but I think there is stuff now that can be done.
you can kill them for a short while using a medicine but when their breeding season kicks up again you'll have them again

You can get rid of them, clean their ears out every day or every other day and either give them Revolution from the vet or give them otomite plus from the vet twice a month. The only time they should come back (after you treat them properly) is if another animal in your house has earmites.
probly
I have no idea where the vet got that idea from. I had a couple cats that had ear mites earlier this year and I treated both with Tresaderm and cleaned out their ears twice a day for several weeks and they don't have any mites at all
If the cat is strickly indoors and does not interact with pets from the outside, then yes you can get rid of them. But, outdoor cats or cats that interact with pets that spend time outdoors...its a losing battle. All you can do is treat them every time their ears start bugging them
