i do not no why he does it, he also pees in laundry basket as well as litter tray he is one of 8 indoor cats i have 4 litter trays he is in good health im baffled he is just 13 months old
1. Take your cat to the vet and have it tested for urinary crystals and a urinary tract infection. Both of these conditions can cause pain while peeing, and cats blame the location instead of their bodies for the pain. Therefore, they pee elsewhere in search of a place where it doesn't hurt. If the cat is still pooping in the box, this is even more likely (pooping wouldn't be painful). Both conditions, especially crystals, can become life-threatening if not treated, so have the cat checked immediately!

3. You should have one box for each cat plus one more, so if you have 8 cats, you should have 9 boxes. Many cats like to poop and pee in different locations, so consider putting an extra box in the room where the laundry basket is (the cat may find this room to feel safer than wherever the current boxes are). If your boxes have a hood or rim, try removing it; some cats do not like the confined feeling hoods and rims can create.
4. How often do you scoop the litter boxes? You should be using clumping litter if the cats are all more than a couple of months old, and scooping the boxes twice a day as well as dumping, scrubbing and refilling them at least once a month. Cats hate walking through their own crap to use the toilet, just like you would, and they have more sensitive noses than we do.
5. Does the cat dig much before using the box, only after, or not at all? Sometimes, when a cat doesn't dig around and often doesn't use the box, he doesn't like the litter. When you add more boxes, you can try new litters in them if you think this could be an issue. See which box the cat uses more often. I haven't tried Cat Attract, but it is guaranteed to get a healthy cat to use the box, so that might be worth a shot.

6. When you wash the laundry and bedding the cat has soiled, use an enzyme cleaner in the washer (you can get this at any pet store - follow the directions on the bottle). Wipe out the basket with enzyme cleaner as well. You may think you've gotten things clean, but the cat has a better nose than you do and will continue to use the basket if he can smell anything there. Try putting a plastic tablecloth across the bed during the day until the issue is resolved.
Good luck!
he is either trying to be dominant and mark his territory or he has a urinary infection. one of my cats gets urinary infections and she pees on our clothes in our laundry baskets and beds for some reason... i imagine its the best way they know of to get our attention... i would get him to the vet and have him checked out... the vet may be able to prescribe a medicine or you may need to feed him a special cat food. best of luck and i hope he feels better :)
I was in the same situation because there was a female in the house before i brought home a male kitten and he would do the same thing so i had to separate them totally
