How Long Can A Cat Be Pregnant For And What Are The Signs?
Hi, My Cat Is Pregnant And We Really Want To Know How Long She Has Left Until She Gives Birth, Also We Would Like To Know How Many Kittens She Will Have Approx. Thanks Katie & Jade:) x

answer:
Hi Katie & Jade,

A cats pregnancy lasts 9 weeks (63 days) but can extend up to 71 days, the obvious signs are an expanding tummy that grows to a side ways bulge, but a pregnancy in a cat wont show until week 5 or over this is because the kittens skeletal structure hasn't developed enough until then to be visible,

so if she is showing then you know she is 5 weeks or over making her more than half way through her pregnancy, so she will be due in 4 weeks or so depending if she is just 5 weeks or a little over, so really a month or less if she is now showing,

the amount in a litter can vary the average is 3 to 5 in a litter or if a first pregnancy as little as 3 but some have been known to have just the one kitten on a first pregnancy, so set up a nest box now for her it is never to soon to do so, as she can then become familiar with it, and it saves last minute panic later, make sure it is in a nice private spot as cat are very fussy mothers,

i have seen over 500 kittens being born due to foster work i once did, so have seen so many pregnant cats, and boy do i know they are fussy with nests! feed her wet kitten food as this has extra calories as pregnant cats can lose weight as they are eating for several, this will also help the unborn kittens develope healthily,

here is a link to help you further about the pregnancy and detailed thing about what to expect during the coming birth,

Cared for many pregnant cats (queens) seen the birth of over 500 kittens.

The average gestation period for cats is between 60-67 days, or 9-10 weeks. You can x-ray to see how many kittens, but this is expensive and potentially harmful to the unborn kittens. The most obvious sign that the mother is close to giving birth is that you can see the kittens moving around inside the mother cat, once you see this it's usually within the week that they will be born.

On average cats are pregnant for 63 - 69 days, from the time of conception.

When my cat was pregnant theres no real way to tell "exactly" ; how many their going to have
unless you go to the vet to get a altrasound, you could feel her tummy and count the bumps.
Finding out how many they had is all the excitment:)
hope this helps:)

Get your vet on the line and get a close relationship with him or her. She can have anywere from 1-10 kittens. (each kitten will cost you around 100 $ to raise to 8 weeks old granted no medical conditions and if the mom cat survivies) Your vet will be able to tell you how far along she is, if she can still be spayed, (recomeneded)

Cats carry a pregnancy for about 65 days depending on the kittens sex. The signs are not exactly obvious and the kitten's number can only be determined by an ecography at your vet's cabinet.

Usually the motehr get is a lot more sleepy than usual and more affectionate.
