Can you fit a catflap in?
A double glazed patio door, only place we can put it. Cat is driving me nuts wanting to go out at 4 or 5 in the morning. Any thoughts.
answer: Yes you can, but it might prove expensive, you can't cut into a double glazed unit, without the double glazing being compromised, as double glazing glass has to be vacuum sealed in the gap between the two sheets of glass, you would have to have the glass with flap installed specially made, contact a double glazing firm. Is there any other door you can use? I have a upvc door, which has a panel on the lower part of the door, and I had a cat flap cut into it successfully. Or if you have a modern house, it may be possible to cut a hole through the wall (same width as if installing a ventilation fan) with the cat flap fitted either side, you would have to convert the hole into a 'tunnel', as there would be gaps caused by the brickwork.
I believe you can but would need a specialist to do it unless you know how to go about it yourself. If my cat pestered me that much I would put her out before going to bed and leave her.
