To add to answers already given, again, it depends on which cat foods and by what you mean by "meat".

If you were to give a cat a diet consisting soley of any cooked meat the cat would develop lethal nutritional deficiencies. This is because an essential amino acid for cats, taurine, is destroyed by heat. There would be other serious deficiencies as well.

If you instead fed the cat raw meat it would get sufficient Taurine (there are provisos, however) but still be deficient in retinol (preformed vitamin A) and minerals such as Calcium.

If you fed the cat a balanced and varied diet of fresh raw meat, bones, and organs including liver then the diet would probably be much healthier than any food you can buy in a can. Note the words "balanced" and "varied" however! pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

If you intend to feed your cat occasional chunks of either cooked or raw meats from those you are preparing for yourself they are good, healthful treats.

If you want to feed your cat a homemade diet though you need to do research first and unless you want to resign yourself to complicated supplementation prepare to feed raw including bones and organs.
