Can chickens, ducks and turkey live together?
i have chickens roosters and hens and i want to get turkeys and ducks do i have to be concerned about fighting and food differences? i know that size of the coop will need to be bigger for the turkeys but what about the ducks? and is there anything i need to know before i get the birds
answer: Physically they can. But they can get lots of diseases and sickness if they accidentally eat each other's feces or well you know... I recommend dividing your land into sections. One section for ducks, one section for chickens, and one for turkeys. The ducks I had tended to bully my hens, but I've never had turkeys before. They're really fragile with chickens/ because they can get many diseases from them. Food is around the same. Turkey's can eat chicken food, as well as ducks. But it'd be nice to buy each their own kind of food. As ducks, chickens, turkeys have their own nutrional needs they need to fulfill. For turkeys, make sure you penn them in the coop for 3 weeks or so, so that they will roam in the coop, and not roost somewhere else if you free range them. I also recommend you clip their wings, as well as chickens if they're a flighty breed and penn them really well. Turkeys have been known ( especially female ) to join a wild group of turkeys because wild male turkeys are really persistent. Which is illegal for them to join, because the state considers you releasing a domestic animal into the wild illegal and threatening for.. the wild turkey population ( blah) . Turkeys will fight roosters if they see them mounting the hens, they don't like that. But if you want to keep all three species, I definitely recommend you keep them SEPARATELY. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
Good luck
They can live together in LARGE spaces so every animal has its our territory. The ducks obviously need a place where they can swim, and it should be kept separate from the other animals. The ducks also need waterfowl feed. The chickens and Turkeys also need different food, and may cause disease in the other if kept too close. You need to research ALOT more before you get ANYTHING !
My dad has a bard with turkeys pigs goat and donkeys just keep them in their separate area if they start fighting they usually roam prions the land and keep their space from the other animals
They eat each other
