i have a green cheek conure right now, but i want a bigger parrot, like a cockatoo, but i was looking to get one for under $500 is there any breeds in that price range besides a cockatiel?

Cockatiels actually are a kind of cockatoo. Other cockatoos will be over $500 unless you find a second-hand bird. For reasonably priced bigger birds, you might consider:

One of the large conures. Similar in personality to your green-cheek, but larger and much louder.

One of the poicephalus. Similar in many ways to your green-cheek, but talk more and not as loud.

A lory (or lorikeet). They tend to be hyperactive and fun, but do eat liquid food and need larger cages.

One of the Pionus. They're quiet and more sedentary than most parrots. Some will be over $500, but some are under.

You could also consider a moustache parakeet, rosella, Indian ringneck, or Alexandrine.
