WHAT PARROT SHOULD I GET?
I have experience with birds, ive had cockatiels and lovebirds.
i wan t something bigger now. i was thinking a conure. if i get one its between a sun, jenday, yellow sided green cheek, and pineapple green cheek, but ive read that these birds bite too much so i don't know. is a jenday conure too much for a first time conure owner?
i want a conure sized bird that wont bite to much and doesnt want to be held for any less than 2 hors daily (that was the max time for my cockatiels) what do you recommend? Tell m only if you actually have experience

You almost cannot go wrong with a conure really. Now is a good time to start looking. Get a hand raised one and you won't have to worry about the biting. They are all pretty much afflicted with what I always called "conurism" (means they're all nuts and will entertain you for hours). There are many different sizes of conures too. Patagonians are pretty good size and I really like them. They all make good pets. I've never had a problem with one other than one that died on me. He had arterial gout and had hatched out without an eye and snuggled that side up against me all the time. I'm sure you can guess what his name was.

You sound like a good candidate for a larger bird. Have fun!! There is a person on yahoo answers that raised different conures and I hope you get an answer from him too.

Parrot breeder.
First get a young hand raised bird from a breeder if possible. Visit a few times before plunking your money down . Handle the bird and see if likes you. Mostly a young one craves attention and will be fine but a very few can take an instant dislike to someone or be downright onery. Suns and jendays can be very loud and the suggested Patagonians can be VERY VERY loud. I had one . It was a marvelous pet and I loved her dearly. She was mistaken for a human yelling at me to hurry up from the next room while I was on the phone. If noise is a factor don't get one. They are the size of a mini macaw and as loud as one. They crop up on craigs list quite often. Biting is more or less a matter of training All young birds explore and experiment with their beaks . I think a good bird would be be a handraised senegal. They are active ,playful and intelligent. While they are not the worlds greatest talkers ,they can talk if so inclined. Two hours out time is more than a lot of birds get. That should be sufficient for most birds.
we saved a sun from a breeder that kept him in a cage his whole life, he had the run of the house the whole day and only put in his cage at night, safety from the two cats i owned, we ended up getting a second one to entertain the first one because it got way to attached to my wife, basically attacking everybody that got near her, took about a week to teach it not to attack me or the cats with the second bird, by itself seemed impossible, we leave them both unclipped so they can escape if they have to, both are loud at times but its mostly for attention, and they seem to know the cage is where they can do whatever and the rest of the house is left alone. They love puzzles and baths. But when shes trying to yell its a contest between her and the birds as to who is louder, which i pesonally find amusing
