My bird having diarrhea need help?
I have a 1 month old cockatiel who is still being handfed, yesterday I noticed he has watery droppings but this morning it came back to normal and now he's dropping is watery again, What should I do to stop him from having diarrhea?
Are you making the formula the same way each time or are you just 'guessing" at how much water? If you make the formula too loose his stool might be loose as well.
Also- are you making fresh formula each time? You should mix fresh formula each time or bacteria can grow in the formula. Re-using old formula is a recipe for problems.
If you can't figure out the diarrhea he needs to go to the vet sooner rather than later especially at his age- birds generally don't show signs of illness until they are extremely ill. Better safe than sorry. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
if it were my bird I would have called a vet by now.
It could possibly be the consistency of the formula you are feeding. Make sure you are mixing the it to the directions on the package. It would be a good idea to go to Kaytee.com. They have a hand-feeding video that is really informative.
