Is this normal parakeet behavior?
I've posted a couple questions about my parakeet, but just today I noticed her feathers were on the bottom of her cage. They are the really small ones so I assume its normal. But, as I was watching her, she's been cleaning herself a lot and I watched her, I believe she pulled a tail feather out? I'm not sure if it fell out orif she ripped it out. She's been a lot more hyper since I rescued her 2 weeks ago. If you click my other questions, you can get an idea of what she's like. If you do read mmy other questions, then it would help a lot in letting me know if her feathers coming out is a problem. She has no bald spots although she hasn't even let me pet her yet. I feed her treats, normal bird seed, I do everything that I need to. I interact with her constantly. I'm doing everything right. So, any help?
its most like ly that shes stressed maybe you play with her too much try to miniamize contact for a week and put a blanket over her cage like this http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://images1.americanlisted.com/nlarge/lil_dog_cage_with_blanket_n_patchogue_10856597.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.americanlisted.com/new_york_32/misc_117/lil_dog_cage_with_blanket_n_patchogue_14436710.html&usg=__Cn6WAF0xsFFikuc_6GKHuU9z5ug=&h=225&w=300&sz=32&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=zfUwe7JCcfk_NM:&tbnh=117&tbnw=158&ei=3BxjTYzgDYmosAOcl9WbDw&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dblanket%2Bover%2Bpet%2Bcage%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG%26rlz%3D1R2ACGW_enUS367%26biw%3D1579%26bih%3D524%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=417&oei=3BxjTYzgDYmosAOcl9WbDw&page=1&ndsp=28&ved=1t:429,r:18,s:0&tx=81&ty=48

She may just be moulting. My parrots moult every 3 - 4 moths, depending on the weather. Other wise it is possible that she is bored and is plucking her feathers. So long as she has lots of toys that get changed regularly (at least fortnightly) she shouldn't get bored.
so you rescued this parakeet? that's so cool! where did you find her? in the park or something? do a little research on the the place and walk around. your bird might be sick because of the things that were there or something it ate. i would go to the vet and give it a little check up. don't worry, just in case you were thinking, i'm a hundred percent sure it doesn't have rabies. hope this helps!

guesses. sry!
Your parakeet is molting....which birds do about twice per year. She is pulling out the old feathers so that that new ones can replace them.

Current Breeder of Parakets/Budgies!!!
It sounds like your budgie is molting.. I have feathers everywhere right now..even tail feathers.
Are Blue and Gold Macaw just dropped a large tail feather ..and sometimes they do pull them out to help the new ones to grow back..It is like shedding
Do not worry to much ..keep a eye on him though..
Give him a shallow bowl of water on the bottom of his cage for bathing..Or you also can by bird baths..I recommend Lixit Quick Lock Bird Bath
All of my small birds love them
