On Sunday morning my Fischer's lovebird's mate (A Yellow Collared lovebird) flew away when my dad was fixing something inside their cage. Since then we have no luck in getting him back. For the rest of the evening on Sunday till sunset and from sunrise to sunset today we placed my female bird outside in the hopes that her whistling would bring he hubbie back to us but still no luck!
How long should we wait before we buy her a new hubbie?

You have done the right thing in putting her out to attract the missing one. Unless he's too far away to hear her, don't give up just yet. It is very painful to lose any bird you love and she will grieve just like you.

I put an ad in the paper when I lost a bird and I could not believe the people who called me with birds they found. I even ended up with a macaw no one could find the owner for.

I would wait a little bit before replacing him and here's to hoping you don't have to!!!!!!!

i lose one before one male, because he slipped, and broke his neck, and the female were all alone, and she just sat there not eat, not play just sat there, in the corners,
so we went off to buy another one really quick, and they get along just fine, exept some fight over food, treats, or toys,
The female will slowly get used to the new one.
