How do i get my lovebird to not be afraid of me?
I bought a female lovebird that was not hand raised. I already had a hand raised lovebird that i have had for over two years. The two get along great and keep each other busy during the day when i am not home. When i have my hand raised bird out named joey she will come out and follow him around. She will climb all over me and they will fly all around. But when i try to put her back she will not let me get near her and she either trys to bite my hands or just flys away. I was just wondering if there was any way i could get her to let me pick her up and trust me like joey does?
LOVE HER!
You could do little things like sitting next to your bird's cage and talking gently to it, reading to it, or even just reading a book while sitting next to its cage so it gets used to you. Also try small sessions each day to let your bird get used to you. Time and patience are really key factors. It's a baby bird so it's going to need time to get used to you and to being handled in general.
