i wanted to start training my cockatiel so i searched for the supermarkets in my country for millet spray and i couldn't find it anywhere (im not living in the US). what are other good treats that i can give my cockatiel that will not require me to use my own hand?
idk what your talking about.
Millet is a great treat and yes isn't that healthy but cockatiel love it so it's absolutely great for training. You don't want to give it millet all the time (because it might get bored of it) but just remember to keepp the variety open!
Sunflower seeds are good too but it's almost addictive to them. Ok but not as great. Good for as a sometime food.
Ftuits are also very good because the are healthy and sweet! Things like chopped up apples. Hope this helps!!
Some like sunflower seeds, mine likes those and pumpkin seeds. A supermarket won't be the best place to look - do you have any pet stores? You'll have better luck finding millet spray at a pet store, or you may be able to find it online.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com BTW, my cockatiel eats millet spray fairly often (a few times a week) and is not fat or unhealthy according to the vet. But yes, try to only let them eat this as a special treat.
Yep, I would say millet is the best, but it is very fattening like all the other seed related foods. my cocktail loved cabbage. but of course all birds have different tastes. try tempting with apples and carrots as well.
Sunflower seeds. You want to avoid giving your bird millet spray. That is junk food to the bird and will make your bird unhealthy & fat.
I give mine sunflower seeds, it is good for them and tehy love it.
apples and other fruits
sunflower seeds or fruit sticks
