Why are birds falling from the sky all of a sudden?

And don't say it has to do with fireworks.

I don't believe fireworks are causing birds to fall from the sky nor do I think fireworks are causing their death.

Just out of curiosity - Do you think humans are next?
Good question. I know some species do tend to die off if there is a great over abundance of them, but this whole birds from the sky is creepy to me. Can we trust who ever is doing the autopsy on these birds? What about the toxicology? I'm a bird lover and it really bothers me to see those gorgeous birds die like that. Then the fish? Maybe we are next.
I live in western australia, and a few years ago we had birds dying in an area about an hours drive from where i live. They were falling from the sky, much as in the most recent report.

They tested the birds. The birds had a high concentration of LEAD particles in their bodies. Birds are more succeptible to poisoning (generally) than humans, they have a more delicate respiratory system than humans too (which is why they used to take canaries into the mines - if the canary died there was a gas leak, but the canary died before people were affected, so the people had enough time to escape before they died from the gas).

Basically, there was a train line which carried lead to be exported by ship, and there were leaks from the containers holding the lead. They discovered that the whole area was polluted with lead, and was at high enough levels to start harming people.

SO ... could the most recent incident be because of lead? Or another pollutant?

Humans could be next if they dont find out what happened to the birds: 0

What a cheery thought ...
There was a large roost of red winged blackbirds in town. The birds were startled by the fireworks - it was night and they could not see so when they flew up suddenly in confusion they ran into buildings and trees and died from hitting the hard surfaces. It happens regularly with single birds (sadly) it is just unusual for it to happen to so many birds at once.
lol i heard about that, its pretty scary and i REALLY hope we are not next. My little sister was like "maybe somebody killed a bunch of birds, brought them in a plane and dropped them from the sky randomly." haha:)
It's the start of the end of the world. 2012 is only 361 days away!
