Scarlet macaw or blue and gold macaw?

Well, I want a bird that will be able to go places with me.

I go with my dad to a dock sort of thing where theres an awesome rain forest, natural looking canopy, it's just beautiful, no man made anything! We go there, and we just sit and watch fish, maybe take a boat out, and were gonna start camping, so it will do all three with us. Don't worry, if it's on the boat, it will be on a harness. I know 2 people (1 owns a scarlet, 1 owns a blue and gold).

The scarlet owner says: "She is a cuddly, she's super friendly, but is moody sometimes".

The blue and gold owner says: "She is clowny, cuddly, and fun, but has a SMALL mood".

I really would like to make the right choice.

Scarlets are beautiful. So are blue and golds but I love scarlets rainbow wings. But this is gonna be a choose based on my lifestyle, not looks.

I have all the time on my hands: Home schooled, gonna live with parents in college, going to be an exotic vet or scientist.

Please, just help me make the RIGHT choice. I have read on both, and I'm leaning for the blue and gold personality, but the scarlet's looks and some of personality.

It will have the best life EVER!!!: D

Thanks.
It is true, there can be some differences in them based on which type Macaw they may be. However, the primary determination as to how a bird will behave is up to the owner. First, you must be well researched in handling a bird this size. If you have the proper knowledge base and the patience to work with it, either one can be as sweet and loving as the other. It's up to you, not the bird. So go with your personal choice, handle it properly, work with it right from the beginning, show it a ton of love and patience and you can have a bird that will be happy and healthy. Good luck.
Neither. Macaws live for easily 60 + years, need constant stimulation and excercise. Can you make that commitment? You can say yes now, but what about 5 or 10 or 20 years down the track? What will happen to the bird if/when you get married and have kids? Macaws and any large parrot for that matter can get jealous and self destructive if they don't get the attention or time they crave. If you want a loyal snuggly bird, I'd suggest a conure. Think about the bird, be fair.
