Ok well my Quaker parrot Fae will have her leg removed soon. My Caique parrot chicky attacked her and broke it beyond repair. So from here on after the surgery she will be officially handicap.
The vet has given me a little advice put her stick low to the floor of the cage in case she falls or get tired.
Put her water and food some where easy to reach. That's all the vet said to do.
Over time while taking care of her while she had the splint i notice she likes to jump in her water bowl.
So i put a small shot glass with water so she couldn't do that.
If anyone has any other advice about taking care of a handicap parrot please please please email me at Scorpionzgaze28@aim.com
I'm just a worried Mommy bird lady making sure i know enough to care for her=)
I'm really happy that you had the good sense to take your feathered baby to a vet. Many people never take their birds to a vet.
Are her wings clipped? Many fully flighted birds can do fairly well (in a large enough cage) with one leg.

Maybe you should consider making some "renovations" in the cage, to make it more accessible.
In the end though you should listen to your vet.
I hope that she has no troubles at all adjusting.
And make sure never to have your birds together again!
