A while back my mom got three chickens. All three girls are healthy and can lay eggs now, but we found one of the chickens, Honey who is a Buff Orpington might be laying two eggs. This has happened twice now in a row. We know it is her because of the color of the egg shells, since both the other girls lay darker eggs and Honey lays lighter eggs. Is this healthy for her to do so?
Its not possible, as the other answerer said chickens take 25 hours to produce an egg so laying is approximately 1 hour later each day. Maybe the egg was covered with shavings in the nest box and missed when collecting eggs then uncovered later in the day by another hen laying and scratting around, this would account for finding 2 eggs the same colour in the nestbox on the same day. I quite often find eggs buried in the hay/shavings if I feel around.
no, chickens usually lay 1 egg every 25 hours, iu will have to be feeding her extra calcium, like shell mix.
