She needs more attention and I am hoping that another bird might help
Consider that very well before doing it. If you have a good relationship with this bird, do you want to chance changing it? Most birds adjust to a certain extent as far as attention is concerned. Think outside the box a little.
I have a bird running all over my towel covered desk every day while I work. I work from home though and you may not have that advantage. This little guy is the love of my life and we watch TV or read or do whatever we need together. Of course he insists on standing on my Kindle with his tail in my way, but what's not to love about a bird. I just keep a lot of towels and paper towels handy.
I have more than one bird too but my African grey just hates this little bird so they do NOT keep each other company. I almost wish I hadn't hand raised my grey. He hates all birds, even other greys.
