i had 4 pet ducks in my back yard i bought them with my own money and raised them, cared for them and gave them all the love a 13 year old girl could possibly give to a duck.
i have a huge yard the ducks were not caged in since they were happier with out being stopped by chicken wire. well one day the inevitable happend a feral orange cat jumped into our yard and killed 2 of my ducks and the third ones body disappeared now i only have one duck which survived just because of the fact that she was in her nest while the massacre happened i feel very sorry for her since she was running frantically looking for her husband and friends afterwards in all the commotion 1 duck egg got squished but she is still warming them. she is all alone in her duck world. we will be buying 3 more ducks so she is not alone, and we will build a pen for them. but the momma ducks babies are due in 2 weeks and i wanted to know if i should take them from her when they are born so they will not be killed off by the predators (i have everything needed to raise them, so that is not a problem) or should i let her raise them herself, and face the consequences, if i were to take them should i run around after them or what, anybody know of any good ways to catch baby ducks without traumatizing them? tnkx plz answer best answer gets 10 pts:)
well here's what i would do .. make the pen as fast as you can if you can finish it before she has her baby's and when she has them catch her and her baby's and put then in the pen. if yo dont have then pen done by then then yes raise them your self it would be better for the ducks. and to catch then get like a fishing net and catch them with that by gently but fastly putting the net over them then lift the net slightly and grab them. good luck with your soon to be cute little baby duckys!
