thanks soo much
Just type cockatiels into your search engine and you will get all the info, you need.

Choosing a cockatiel is a good choice, they make brilliant pets.Good luck.
I agree with the first answer.

What I have to add is - make sure you don't startle them and give them lots of room to relax and move about. You should also take them out to play once in a while, usually a few times a week, depending on how socialized your cockatiel is - this is a very good form of entertainment for your bird.

Socialized cockatiels are preferred by most people, but if you can't commit the time and effort into giving them the attention they need, it's not a good idea. They can become angry and moody. So make sure you give your cockatiel lots of attention (like talking to them, letting them sit on your finger or your hand, scratching their neck, etc) pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

You should cover their cage with a blanket or cloth at night so that no passing cars in the window startle them.

I hope this helps:)
Don't let them out when any fans/stoves/dogs are on or about. If you're thinking about leashes or harnesses, use them when they're young. DON'T feed them salty foods. DON't feed them super-sweet foods. Unless of course it's a natural taste in a fruit or vagetable.
Do not pull on their tail feathers.

OK.

They like to chew on wood and stuff a lot. So plenty of chews.
Since you have Parakeets the same rules would apply. Don't have anything 'scary' near them. My birds all hate balloons, fans, vacuums, cars, etc. Don't pull on their tail, do have patience with them. They NEED a lot of love, (all birds really) At least an hour a day, the more the better. They LOVE toys and will play with just about anything, and even eat just about anything. NEVER give birds Chocolate, it will kill them! A really good way to get them to be friendly is to hand-feed them, since most animals are scared of human hands, hell they don ' t like feet too much! XD But it is funny when they climb on anyway! Don't cut their tail! Some people I know who think they are clipping the bird's feathers, end up doing it. Unless you want your bird to look funny , and be very mad at you, don't do it. When you leave the room/house I leave the tv or radio on so they won't feel lonely. Sometimes they might even copy it. Oh, birds need at least one bath a week! If you don't do it, they will try to bathe in their water bowl. XD They look so funny looking! I use baby wash on them, but it's better to use bird shampoo. For my birds I use the shower head, but MY birds are used to it. You should use a spray bottle. For drying them off I towel dry/use a hair dryer (my birds trust me though) Since it's a new bird you should put them in the sun or somewhere warm. Cover the cage at night, to keep them warm. For clipping toenails, be VERY VERY careful! Do it from the very tip, and very softly. Personly it's not wise to leave the birds outside at night, my friend's bird died from it getting too cold, which was sad. I let my birds out of the cage most of the time, since they like their freedom. If your bird is being bad, put them on "Time-out" I do this when my bird is being mean to the others. For "Time-out" keep them in their covered cage, somewhere quiet and dark, for about 5 minutes, so they can "Sulk" and think about what they did. Of course if your new bird bites you, don't. You want them to trust you! My sun-parrot Ducky used to be a total jerk and bite really hard, but after like 3 months of being nice to her, she loves me, and knows when she did something bad, lol. If the birds bites super hard you should get gloves. (I haven't done this, but my friend did) Talk to the bird nicely, trust me ... XD I remember I called Ducky " Stupid-head "and she ran up to me yelled, and bit me. It was funny to be honest. Also, Don't put them together with huge parrots, they might fight and be scared of one another. However Parakeets, get along well with cocos! I Well that's all that I can think of as of right now.If you want more info, at Pet-co or Pet-Smart they have pamphlets about all kinds of animals, I used to use them all the time. Or try the internet! I hope I helped you!
