I think my budgie is upset?

All of my budgies have acted like this in the past at night, just sitting on the perch, that's all.

I'm not sure if she's upset or tired.

Do budgies think alot? I want to find out what they think, it would be quite interesting to know what they're thinking.

Recently, her daughter died because of my sisters cat, my sister was visiting with her cat and when I came back from school the cat scratched the bird and it hurt her so much that the vet put her to sleep. I am very upset by that but does my budgie realise? She's actaully happier in the day now, her and her daughter used to fight alot. I really would like to hear some of your sad stories, it would probably make me feel better knowing that other sad budgie stories are worse than mine.I 'm thinking of buying a new budgie? What do you think?

My budgie is breathing abit faster when I walk up to the cage, I think they get scared when you do that. Her chest is sticking out like she's proud? Why? She's abit plump but I'm watching her diet.

Thanks ever so much!

No cheeky answers please: D
Budgies do think! They are very sensitive, intelligent creatures.

If your female seems happier now, then she probably is happier. I think in this case, it is better that they never got along. If they were very close, and bonded, then she could of gone into mourning. This would involve her calling out for her daughter for days (very sad to see).

The chest sticking out is her trying to make herself look bigger. This means she's scared of you. Sorry!

Is she the only budgie in the cage? If you want to bond with her, perhaps you should give her a cage of her own. From there, you can start pointer and clicker training her. (They are super smart and it's really easy to train them, it just takes some time). There's a plethora of budgie training sites. I have two budgies and a cockatiel, and I've found a lot of information on www.theparrotforum.com. It's run by a man who trains birds . It's really helped me. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

You want a sad budgie story? Well, a month after my 8 year old lovebird died, my parents took me to the pet store to buy me my first budgie. He was the sweetest bird I ever met. I was still really upset over my lovebird, but this really numbed my pain. Anyways, when I got him he was never hand tamed. However, he took to me very quickly. Anyways, I really started to fall for this little guy. Two weeks after I bought him, I came home from school. He wasn't in his cage. I looked everywhere, but eventually I found him. He was at the bottom of the bedroom stairs. He had escaped from his cage and flew into a door. I could tell he layed there for a bit. There was blood and droppings. He must of busted something, causing him to bleed to death. After that, I swore off of owning birds.

5 years later, I bought two more budgies and a cockatiel. I love them dearly:)
I want to let you know that it is never too late to tame her! Budgies can live up to 15 years. Even if she is in her later years, you should try to build a relationship! Wouldn't want her to die alone.
