I just found an egg - can i hatch it?

My neighbour was trimming a hedge and found an abandoned blackbirds nest with an egg in it.

So, it's been sitting there for a good 6 months but there hasn't been any frosts and the nest was dry and sheltered.

Does anyone * know * whether or not i could hatch it and what is the best way to go about it?

I'm not bothered about the laws etc.

Thanks
The egg was probably infertile and didn't hatch when all the other eggs in the nest did. I breed chickens and eggs will still hatch after being kept for around 2 weeks, after that they won't hatch even if you incubate them.

So after 6 months of course this egg won't hatch, if there is anything inside it (yolk, dead chick) then it will be rotten and smell disgusting. Leave well alone.
Sadly, no, you could not hatch it . All eggs need to be sat on by a mother bird for atleast 3 weeks. Being around 6 months, the egg had probably died long before. And, if still alive, the egg would have already hatched. All I can say is to bury the egg, so other black birds don't raid the nest and eat the egg. I would rather be buried than eaten, even when dead.
most likely it will not live, I am sorry to say, without the mother's warmth at night it could die despite there being no frost, however if you still want to try and kudos to you if you do, you should get an egg incubator, make sure to pick up a book on blackbirds so you know the turning techniques, meaning you must turn the egg over every ______ amount of time good luck
TTC; That egg will be rotten as all hell and the shell pretty delicate by now. If it breaks in ye fingers? It won't be a fun experience. .... Might teach ye a lesson though. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

In future, please leave wild birds eggs alone. Even if ye are above the laws of ye land, that's no reason to take out ye omnipotence on the birds, is it?
Sorry but it will not hatch. In my experience the longest length of time you can leave an egg around (after it has been laid) and then put it in an incubator is a week.
You can hatch it.

Just keep it folded in thick cotton and keep it in a box with little ventilation. Wait for few days (21 days optimally). You will find a birdling. Take care of it.
It's been there 6 months. It's not going to hatch unless this is the start of a zombie bird apocalypse.
no u can't after certain period the egg will start decay

no use in it
use your bum for warmth squat on it
