Woke up last night to my dog barking like crazy. A scared bark. Went downstairs and felt suddenly very scared also for some reason, like somebody was in my house. I brought the dog inside and she was in hysterics. I was quite panicked for some reason and quickly returned to bed and lay away freaked out for at least an hour. This morning i woke up to find feathers all over my yard, and one of my chickens killed and eaten down to the absolute bone. Something had climbed the fence into my yard, swam over the flooded lake to get to the chicken coop, dragged a chicken through the water and up my embankment, scared off my dog and myself, and devoured this chicken. There was nothing left. Picked clean.
What did this? A cat wouldn't be large enough to drag the chicken all the way up my yard and through the wind and rain and foot of water from the flooded lake. It definitely wants my dog, i know that much.
Notes: I live in Australia.
The chicken was dragged around the yard while being killed

Australia. Well, I'm not from Australia, but I do know some of the predators.
- Dingo
- Quoll
- Tasmanian Devil
- Crocodile (you said it was near water, and they are nocturnal and perfectly capable of harming your dog)
- Red Fox
(These are animals I would of suspected here in Canada)
- Wolf
- Fisher
- Wolverine
- Coyote
- Raccoon
I recommend that you get someone to check it out, and look up your local predators. Bring your dog inside at night, I'd hate to hear that something happened to your dog.
I hope it's something that can be easily removed and won't cause anymore harm to your chickens.
