Can 2 male cockatiels get along? Can a male and female cocka

I have a male cockatiel who just lost his parakeet buddy. So he is lonely, should I get him a male or female cockatiel? I don't want babies, and I don't want fighting.
Two male cockatiels will get along fine, male parakeets and cockatiels hardly ever fight with each other. They should be fine together. And u can get him a female, and as long as u dont give them a nestbox, they will not mate. Or if u want u can get him another budgie friend too, which ever one u want should be fine.
You can buy either a male or female companion for your baby. Cockatiels are known for being mellow birds in general, and can get along with either sex. Of course this doesn't mean all cockatiels will get along, but if they don't it is not gender related. Two male birds will not fight.

Breeding is a different subject. It is very difficult to not have two birds mate if they want to. It's just the way it is. Remember that a female can lay eggs even if she hasn't successfully mated with a male. If you had a female bird, chances are she will lay eggs, but it would be unlikely that they would ever hatch. If you had two males, you would not have to worry about eggs. But if you had a female, she would most likely be a lot quieter! So it just depends on what you're looking for in the new bird.
They MIGHT get along if theyre in a big cage but otherwise they are most likely to fight and squabble with each other. It IS possible to have a male and female together but it might be a bit tricky not ending up with babies. I heard if you have them in a cooler room, no nest in their cage, and just feed them seeds and pellets, NO mushy warm foods or anything , then they usually dont have the right conditions, i guess you could say, to lay eggs and hatch them.
I have a male and female cockatiel and if you dont want them to breed dont give them a nest box, i have been told from www.talkcockaiels.com as im always on there. I didnt know either but they was 100% sure that they wont breed also in budgies aswell, which i have female and male.
