I have a blue, male love bird. I am sure it feels alone. Because two weeks ago it started pulling its feather one by one and also it was screaming. One of my friends suggested me to place a mirror in his cage. Now he is very happy. In fact he is more than happy! But I think he supposes the reflection of himself as a female bird. I will buy a female for him. But what if they fight? What if both of them don't like each other? Are there any criteria to find the most suitable girl for him? Or is it just destiny like our lives?
I have a lovebird too, and when his mate flew away, we let HIM pick his own mate. XD my putting him on top of the cage. But to be honest the way the bird acts does change, just depends how close you are to him. Yeah it's a good idea to get a mate, and quick!
My green-cheeked conure (male) was depressed, so I got him a female, and he was VERY happy. The bad part was, because they were a female and a male together, they became very territorial and I can't go anywhere near them without getting attacked so ... yeah I'm not sure if that was just my birds or if that happens a lot!
It should get along with it just fine, but if you have him where he is bonded to you he will no longer bond with you. I just done some research on this cause I was given one. I have attached the sight I got my info from. They both are good sights and learned something different from both.
Well, you need to ask your bird. It is his choice.
