What is the most humane way to deal with a duck who cannot walk?
My family and I own two ducks. The one duck was born with a foot problem where one of his feet bends back and it is very difficult for him to walk. He also cant fly and his buddy wont fly away without him. Right now they are living in a pen in our garage because its too cold to be outside but the poor duck is getting bigger and worse. He can barely move around so its even colder for him. I cant bear to look at them in the pen without crying and i know that my poor duckie is suffering. I have called and emailed i dont know how many animal shelters and clinics and no one will email back. What do i do? any ideas?

i agree but i personally would go with a .45 (bigger mess)
get a mini heater for the garage and a big pen with crappy blankies in it!
Ignore the two gun remarks! I agree with Bianca. Old blankets or better, some hay. It isn't expensive from the local feed and seed store and will keep them warm (natural thing for them to be nesting in). Be careful with that heater, especially if using hay. I would suggest a heat lamp of some sort. A little safer from fire. I am glad you are taking the effort. Many people would put it down, but it is hard once you start caring and it sounds like it will naturally not survive so much longer. There are chances though, that maybe a vet could do some sort of minor amputation, and fix the remainder of the foot joint (so it won't bend) so that it could get around a little easier.

things are not all bad. Check this out...
Ok, the link was way too long, but just do a search for "one legged duck" and then look at the images/photos. This occurs way more often than people may realize. Just because we don't SEE doesn't mean they aren't there.
Sorry to hear about your duck :( as said, try a space heater in the garage, or maybe a wooden crate lined with straw which you can change for him each day. I know you can get prosthetic legs for many animals, try looking into this?
If you cannot do anything about his foot, you have to ask what quality of life he has. I know it seems worse in winter, but can he sit outside in the summer? Can he swim in a pond during summer? How much time and effort can you put into his care for the rest of the year (maybe take him around in a pull along cart...? If you do not think you can keep him a happy bird, and cannot fix his leg, you might have to consider putting him down, possibly getting another duck as company for his friend. If he is miserable, there is no point to keeping him alive i am sorry to say :(
