I'm looking at buying a few Silkie Bantams to use as show chickens for 4-H and for pets. Do chickens/other poultry need pedigrees to be shown at County Fair? (I show rabbits and they need pedigrees to be shown)

Also, is ordering baby chickens online safe? Are they cared for during shipping? I don't want them to starve or anything awful like that! I want to order from http://www.mypetchicken.com/catalog/Day-… and they seem like a good place... so what so you think?

Last thing... The site says it gives you unsexed birds, and I only want females because males are too loud. What should I do with any males I get? I don't want to just give them away! If they live in the basement, are they loud enough that I would hear them on the main floor with the basement door closed? pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
