Is my cockatiel lonely?
My male lutino (fancy) cockatiel has begun chirping more then he ever has before. Before he would chirp if he heard music or if he needed to be fed he would let us know by chirping. But now at every opportunity he has he will sing and if we tell him to stop he wont. I checked his food and water and he is fine. Could it be that I just need to take him out of his cage more because if I do he will fly and his wing like shakes after he is done flying. My mom thinks hes chirping excessively now because he is or will be 7 years old this summer so he needs a hobby. PLease help me about the wing and the singing. We dont have money right now for a friend for him but when we do we will most likely get him one but what do I do until then? HELP!!!
answer: He doesn't need a mate, he has you. He is calling you to come play with him. His wings are shaking after flying from the excitement and from the exercising of flying. He is able to really get a good workout and release a lot of extra energy.Try and let him do this a few times a day. Just take him out a little more and give him family time even when you are doing homework or just watching tv with you. He just want to spend time with you.
He's probably chirping because he's happy. My cockatiel only chirps in when she's in the sun, because it's warm and it's winter right now. I suppose he could also be calling for a mate. He's fine. You don't need to get him a friend as long as you play with him every day. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
His wings are probably shaking because he's excited about flying. That's my guess because I got my cockatiel when her wings were clipped and I'm waiting for them to grow out.
I think he is looking for a partner to mate that's why he is making a sound to attract them
