i have a rattlesanke i caiught outside my house its about ten inches long it hasnt ate in a week since i caught it. it wont eat the live mice i put in its cage i think its too big but im goin tomoro to buy the pink ones but i jus have it in a lil plastic cage i dont kno anything about snakes should i put sand in its cage or wat?
Actually you should call animal control to come get it. Baby rattle snakes have more nuerotoxins in their venom than adult ones. This is not a snake to mess with if you don't know anything about snakes. It's a visit to the ER waiting to happen.
You may be better off posting this question on Reptiles rather than Birds.
But reading your question begs another --- why would someone get a snake, any snake, w/o first knowing how and what to feed it?
If you can't do that kind of research maybe you ought to reconsider snake ownership. Try a web search for a herp club in you area so you can connect w some knowledgeable handlers.

It's illegal to own such an animal. Please do the right thing and call your city's animal control department to come and pick it up.
My friend fed hers maggots and now her snake is 5 years old and pretty darn big ... I don't know what kind of snake it is though aha.
