there has been one around my place eyeing my backyard. I have two small dogs and two big ones.
one big one always watches for them and barks at them when they come by our roof and trees and the hawk flies away. they have been trying to take small dogs (mine are supervised with a leash and me by their side in my yard). seems my big dogs scare them off, do they return after if the big dogs are out?
I feel lucky that Spirit watches and barks and runs toward them, never seen the hawk swooping down too low but Spirit catches his shadow and looks up and barks, it always leaves. Not sure if it is the same one.
Based on your qu
Depends on the hawk. They have some intense personalities. There is an osprey that visits my backyard to rest on my deck. The neighbors dog used to flip out when it came (this dog isn't leashed or fenced, it just stays on it's owner's property doing whatever it wants). Over a week, they got used to each other through what I guess was mutual animal understanding.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Now when the osprey comes, the dog brings scraps from his dish (neighbors give the dog leftover meat scraps and fat from their meals along with regular dog food) and the osprey jumps down and they share the meal. Yeah, THEY SHARE A MEAL!
Holy cow. It blew my mind.
Anyway, depending on the hawk, it might stay away from your big dogs or it'll wait for an opportunity to strike. Or, it could befriend your dogs. I don't know. It all depends on the personality.
