I live in a NY apartment. I know that Parrotlets are cheaper but I'm not sure which would be more suitable. I know all parrots are noisy, but which is less noisy and won't get too bored when I'm at work for 10 hours? I want a friendly little bird that likes to cuddle and likes attention (watching tv with me, etc.)
Definitely a parrotlet.I have had several as well as many other types of birds and as a cuddler and all around good pet, parrotlets are superior in my opinion.My boy Kiwi will sit and snuggle with me every evening when I watch tv yet he is fine by himself all day in his cage because I keep alot of high quality safe toys in there and rotate them often.Parrotlets are definitely not as noisy as lori's and the Lorikeet requires a much more complicated and expensive diet.Get you a male handfed pacific parrotlet and he will make you a wonderful devoted pet.
Definitely a parrotlet. Lorikeets are much, much messier than they are, which is very, very bad for apartment life ... and most other kinds of life, too. Unless you're willing to spend the extra money to get something that will most likely catch only 70% of the mess and waste a lot of your time cleaning up the rest, then get a parrotlet.

Parrotlets are so active and so curious it's hard to imagine them getting bored, if you have enough toys in their cage. They are definitely less noisy than most lorikeets.
I vote parrotlet! Those guys are like any large parrot, only super tiny. Tons of personality and attitude. Just make sure to get to know the bird before you get it, so you know whether or not you're compatible.
